| What is your Mission Statement (max 200 words) | DeafBlind Ontario Foundation raises, invests and directs funds to DeafBlind Ontario Services to enhance programs which support the individuals they serve. DeafBlind Ontario Services supports people who are deafblind, as well as those living with a developmental disability who are Deaf, hard of hearing or use non-traditional forms of communication. Specialized services are customized to each person’s unique needs, method of communication, and goals to live their best life. Through a person-centered approach, individuals are supported to build independence, access information, develop and strengthen relationships, and engage meaningfully in their communities. Professional Intervenors are at the core of this model, supporting communication and enabling individuals to access the world around them. Although DeafBlind Ontario Services receives provincial funding, it doesn’t meet all the needs of the people we support. DeafBlind Ontario Foundation bridges the gap to provide critical funding for the priority needs of the individuals supported by DeafBlind Ontario Services. |
| How are you making an IMPACT? (max 200 words) | DeafBlind Ontario Foundation creates impact by removing barriers to communication, independence, and community participation for the individuals supported by DeafBlind Ontario Services. For people who are deafblind, access to information, communication, and mobility is significantly impacted. Intervenors are professionally trained to act as the “eyes” and “ears” of the person who is deafblind through the sense of touch, enabling individuals to access information, make decisions, and safely navigate their environment. Through a person-centered approach of “do with, not for,” Intervenors empower individuals to build independence, develop life skills, and participate fully in their communities. Impact is seen in everyday moments where individuals are able to connect with others, engage in activities, and experience a sense of belonging. These outcomes are made possible through communication support, which allows individuals to access the world around them in their preferred method of communication and live with greater independence and dignity. |
BUSINESS GRANT RECIPIENT

This business has created a place where people with neurodiversities can tell their stories and spread awareness of Autism and neurodivergent hosts of podcasters and creators. We are thrilled to support this IMPACTFUL business. CONGRATULATIONS to Autistic Culture Podcast Network!
CONNECT WITH AUTISTIC CULTURE PODAST NETWORK
| Tell us why you started your business? What motivates you as a business owner? | I founded the Autistic Culture Podcast Network after my own late autism diagnosis reshaped how I understood my life and work. Like many late-identified autistic adults, I had spent decades being mischaracterized and trying to adapt to systems that did not fit how my brain works. When I began speaking with others, I saw the same pattern repeated across hundreds of stories. There was no lack of insight or ability. There was a lack of infrastructure, language, and ownership of our own narratives. The business grew out of that gap. What started as a single podcast became a network of more than 25 autistic-led shows across multiple countries. We built a creator-led model where neurodivergent hosts can produce, distribute, and monetize their work without relying on traditional media gatekeepers. The network now reaches a global audience, with over one million downloads and a growing base of paid subscribers and sponsors. The opportunity is clear. There is a large, underserved audience of neurodivergent people looking for content that reflects their lived experience, as well as organizations seeking to reach this audience in an authentic way. We are positioned to become a leading platform for autistic-led media and to set a standard for how neurodivergent creators build sustainable businesses. The challenge is infrastructure. We are at the point where demand is outpacing our systems. We need to formalize our sales process, expand our production capacity, and build the operational support required to scale beyond a founder-led model. With the right investment, we can strengthen our revenue streams, support more creators, and grow into a durable, high-impact media company. |
| How are you making an IMPACT? | Our business creates impact by shifting who gets to tell the story of neurodivergence and how those stories are shared. Through the Autistic Culture Podcast Network, we provide a platform where autistic and neurodivergent creators produce and own their work, reach global audiences, and build sustainable income. This reduces isolation, increases representation, and creates real economic opportunity within a community that has historically been excluded from both media and entrepreneurship. We are working toward a broader change: moving neurodivergence out of a deficit-based framework and into a model of culture, capability, and contribution. That shift has practical consequences. When people see themselves reflected accurately, they make different decisions about their work, relationships, and health. When businesses understand this audience, they engage more effectively and inclusively. We are building the infrastructure that supports both sides of that change. This grant would directly accelerate that impact by allowing us to strengthen the systems that support our creators and audience. We would invest in production capacity, sales infrastructure, and audience growth, which would enable us to bring more shows into the network, increase revenue opportunities for creators, and expand access to neurodivergent-led content. In short, the grant would help us move from a successful early-stage platform to a scalable model that creates both cultural change and economic opportunity at a much larger level. |
The Summer Grant Cycle is now open. Apply for a grant between July 1st and September 30th 2026.
