20 Grants to Finish 2026 Strong

20 Grants to Finish 2026 Strong:
November & December Funding Opportunities for Nonprofits
The year may be winding down, but grant opportunities are not!
As nonprofits enter the final months of 2026, many organizations are focused on year-end fundraising campaigns, Giving Tuesday, holiday programs, and preparing their budgets for the coming year.
Even with the busy holiday season, there are many grant opportunities you might not want to miss out on.
November and December offer opportunities for nonprofits working in education, youth development, health and human services, community development, the arts, food security, and other important areas.
At Impact Funding Solutions, we encourage nonprofits to maintain a consistent grant funding strategy throughout the year. While some funders have already closed their 2026 application cycles, others are accepting applications right through December.
We’ve researched 20 grant opportunities worth exploring before the end of 2026, including opportunities for U.S. nonprofits and Registered Canadian Charities.
As always, not every grant will be appropriate for every organization. Pay close attention to geographic eligibility, funding priorities, application requirements, and deadlines before deciding whether to apply.
Grant information was researched in October 2026. Deadlines and guidelines are subject to change. Always confirm current details directly with the funder before submitting an application.

Finding Grants Is Only the Beginning
Having access to a list of funding opportunities is helpful. But finding grants is only one part of building a successful grant funding strategy.
The next step is determining which opportunities are genuinely worth pursuing.
Before committing valuable staff time to an application, consider whether your organization meets the funder’s eligibility requirements, whether your mission and programs align with its priorities, and whether the potential award justifies the time required to prepare a competitive proposal.
You should also consider whether your organization has the financial information, program data, supporting documents, and organizational capacity required to complete the application properly.
A strong grant strategy isn’t about applying for every opportunity you find. It’s about consistently pursuing the right opportunities.
At Impact Funding Solutions, we encourage nonprofits to maintain an ongoing grant calendar that looks several months ahead.
Some of the opportunities listed above have November deadlines, while others remain open through December. Several funders won’t make their funding decisions until 2027.
That illustrates an important reality about grant funding: the work you do today often creates the funding opportunities you’ll benefit from months down the road.
Finish 2026 Strong. Start 2027 Stronger.
As we approach the end of another year, this is an excellent time to evaluate your nonprofit’s grant funding strategy.
What funding opportunities are still available before December 31?
Which funders should be on your calendar for early 2027?
Are your organizational documents and financial information current?
Do you have a clear strategy for the types of funding you want to pursue?
And perhaps most importantly, does your organization have the time and capacity to manage grant research, applications, deadlines, and follow-up consistently?
Grant funding is rarely an overnight success story. It takes planning, persistence, and a long-term commitment to building relationships and pursuing opportunities.
But the work you put into building that pipeline today can create opportunities for your organization well into the future.

Frequently Asked Questions About November and December Grants
Are there still grants available for nonprofits in November and December 2026?
Yes. A number of foundations, corporate giving programs, and other funding organizations have application deadlines during November and December. However, eligibility varies by geography, organizational status, and program focus. Nonprofits should review each funder’s current guidelines before applying.
Can nonprofits apply for grants in December?
Absolutely. Some funders accept applications throughout December, while others offer rolling application periods or annual deadlines near the end of the calendar year. Organizations should also research grants opening in January and February 2027.
Are there general operating grants available at the end of the year?
Yes, although general operating grants are often more limited than project-specific funding. Some foundations offer unrestricted funding, organizational capacity support, or funding for eligible operating expenses. Carefully review each funder’s restrictions to determine whether these costs are permitted.
Should our nonprofit apply for every grant we’re eligible for?
Not necessarily. Eligibility is only the starting point. A strong grant strategy also considers alignment with funding priorities, application requirements, award amounts, competitiveness, and organizational readiness. Pursuing fewer, better-matched opportunities can be more productive than submitting large numbers of poorly aligned applications.
When should nonprofits start planning their 2027 grant applications?
Ideally, before 2027 begins. Many grant applications require preparation weeks or months before submission, and funders may take several months to announce decisions. Building a grant calendar in advance gives your organization time to prepare competitive applications and avoid unnecessary deadline pressure.
